The problem with facebook

First, don't get me wrong. I think Facebook is great. It's the perfect place to get in touch with old friends and to stay in touch with those already close to my heart. BUt it gets a tad scary when I realize people might actually use that as a gauge to understand who I am. Facebook seems to be a network that needs constant policing and updating to keep facts right. I just found out i had somehow joined a group I didn't even know I was in. It was a group called 'A day without gay". It's ridiculous, I have no idea how i joined that group. Am I just outdated? BUt I find it a hassle to keep up with the constant barrage of information. Did I click a button without reading things? Perhaps. Someone who doesn't know me would think me a bigot. Oh well, one can't always put everything on display and make everything crystal clear, but I really got to be a lot more careful with my account. Beyond its usefulness, the intrusiveness of facebook policing can get a tad disturbing.

The Road, Moon

Moon--unsettling and clean. I liked the movie. It stayed in my mind long after I left the cinema.

The Road--read it straight in two days. I really loved it but felt that the ending was abrupt. Just felt that McCarthy had it all planned that the end would have to be that way. Most of the book, though, was a nice adventuring.

I realized one thing. I love clean aesthetics. Literature wise--when something is too fanciful it just completely throws me off.

I am glad

An ex-student from River Valley High added me on Facebook and boy has she grown. She reminded me so much of myself when I was fourteen. It was three years ago when I was doing my short stint as a history teacher there. She was a tom-boy and honestly, quite disruptive during class but I like her humor. Now she's takng her A-levels and she loves History. I know I flatter myself too much, but I am so proud that she loves history! I hope whereever the road takes her she will always find her passion and pursue it!

Wow, it is moments like this that one feels that one has done something worthwhile whether it be directly or indirectly, there is some one else in this world who has crossed my path and I hope that I had made a good impact.

On Albino crocodiles and Moon jelly fish

Tired of the black background of the old page. So here's a brand new face!!!

I've been extremely lazy lately in updating. I also realized I haven't taken pictures of anything in quite a while. (It's only the realization, I have yet reach the stage where I might do something about it. haha )

For example I was at the Califronia Academy of Science Yesterday--they had a beautiful aquarium but the thought of taking a photo just didn't cross my mind. (the camera is now with my sister in Singapore--of course I have my phone) but what's the point. But now, I regret the fact that I didn't take at least one picture of the albino crocodile. (there was an albino crocodile in the museum, for some reason, I think you all will find it fascinating).

They also featured moon jellyfish--I might have dreamt of them last night.
